9.5/10 Review by Mike
Like many of you, until last year that is, have took a distinct feeling of sorrow for "what Fifa once was", I remember the many hours of fun playing against friends on the likes of Fifa 03 with the querky freekick design (Roberto Carlos FTW?) and the brilliant manager mode on Fifa 05, but what many found in October last year was not what they had found over the last 3 years but the feeling of joy that the other predoccesors had given before, this year it's no different, the feeling is back, multiplied around a 100 times more.
Fifa thrives of it's licenses and this year it's not the only trick EA have up its sleeve to get one over on Konami, the 360 degrees dribbling is intergrated beautifully allowing skillful players to drift gracefully around defenders and the more stronger players for example Drogba muscle their way through. Fifa 10 not only improves on the attacking style and passing play (more on this later) it also improves on the defensive side of the beautiful game, defenders play mroe realistically this time round making defensive set ups and effective zonal marking, and the keepers are outstanding AI (No more cheap halfway kick off goals any more, thank you very much) they pull off brilliant saves and creep off their line to stop and striker surging towards the net, they also save chips more often than not if the player shooting isn't particually good at finishing.
Another great feature of Fifa 10 is the manager mode, this has been improved greatly adding much more depth to the game including the difficulty of the clubs board, Ametuer meaning the board helps you a lot more financially.
The Be A Pro makes a storming return with a feature called Virtual Pro alllowing you to create your own pro and downloading a 3d model of your head to add to the Pro (Search Fifa 10 GameFace into google for more information on this) and take him online. Instead of player growth the player unlocks achievements, not wanting to ruin this for you I will stop now but it really is addictive.
Eventhough Fifa 10 instead of evolving it has built on last years brilliant game and made it a truly great game and eventhough it may not match Pro Evo's new graphics IMO it trumps it on gameplay.
Finito, Peace out guys. (Posted on 11/2/09) -
Early Days Review by Tony
As title says its still early days, but this game will rock the world of football games.Graphics and game play are excellent and has improved a lot on last years edition.Defenders are indeed smarter, tho keepers seem a little dumber on ocasions. If you are a footie fan, then this is the game to get,its a must.
